"This is not gonna be an easy situaton to rectify," thought the Clone, "if all the different personalities read Lollie's post and head up to the cabins it's gonna be WWIII, especially with Polly bein' up there."
They were doing 90 as they rounded Dead Man's Curve and started up the hill. Jef Herring only had one thought, "Why the hell didn't I take my own car, this guy drives like a mad man!"
"I sure wish we could have got some bananas." said the Clone.
"What for.... I told you he doesn't need them."
"Well maybe for 5 more bucks you'll sell me another copy of your book...... I mean for Mr. Bemis."
"Autographed or not? I got my pen right here."
"Not"
"8 bucks."
"6.50"
"Done."
As they pulled up to the cabins the sky suddenly cleared. Night had fallen and bright beautiful stars twinkled in the sky, the full moon was pregnant, glowing, smiling and beseeching the pair to feel calm. The temperature was a balmy 80 degrees with a gentle breeze blowing intermittently. The air was clean and fresh from the rain as the sweet smell of the pine forest permeated the mountain top.
All this helped to anchor the unlikely duo and make them feel strong and resourceful as they leapt from the Jeep and headed for the cabin where the Clone had last seen Black Belt. When they got there, however not a soul was around. They looked at each other in shock and disbelief.
