Focus 5% on your Prayer,
95% on your FAITH:
in your God, yourself
and your fellow man.
P.S. Worry is the absolute proof
of a lack of faith. Refuse to worry.

I keep trying to write something here, erasing it, starting over.
This focus formula for prayers has dramatically increased the percentage of my prayers answered. Up from 10% to around 95%. If you don't have a better formula already, please try this one on. (I took this photo one morning just before sunrise at Carter's Landing on Lake Tenkiller in Northeastern Oklahoma.)
Pops taught me this. He had alzheimers and would repeat things over and over. He'd get on a roll and I'd start looking for excuses to be on my way. Then one day I said to myself, "If the good Lord has seen fit to decorate my life with this charming, wirey little old man who repeats himself like a skipping record, perhaps it behooves me to listen to him." The next day he happened to be stuck on a scripture about prayer.
God is not mocked! WHATEVER ye pray for BE-LIEVING...... it shall be given unto you. I wish you could see him. He would bend nearly to the floor saying it and when he shouted the word "believing" he would bring his fist up for emphasis. That Pops. A preacher at heart, shame he couldn't stand church.
If he said it once, he said it fifty times. That sent me to the Bible to read up on prayer and me a person who seldom opens a Bible. I noticed that one of the clearest commandments Jesus ever gave was simply "don't worry." I also noticed that he never said "don't work." It also says in there that we've already been given everything we need. I choose to believe that means our brains, hands, hearts and eyes. I consider people who only pray and expect God to do it all for them, pretty lazy. What did he give us brains and hands for if not to help answer our own prayers?
And while we're on the subject of prayer...... a young woman who is practically like a daughter to me, has cervical cancer that has gone to her bone marrow and her spine. She's embarrassed to be so sick, so young, so I will not mention her name here. I will only say that it's never too late to pray for miracles. So pump up your faith. If you'll think about it, you can remember a miracle or two. Remember them vividly. Then if you will, say a prayer for miracles and joy for my friend. With God's help and with ours, virtually nothing is impossible.
Joyful Update (July 1999): My young friend no longer has cancer in her spine or bone marrow. She still has some cancer now but chemo is taking care of that. Thank you all for your prayers with faith. I'd say it was like magic if I didn't already know it was a miracle.

can never fully shrink to its original dimensions."
