Oklahoma City
To honor those we lost,
God bless us with good works
rising from our hands like
a phoenix rising from those ashes.

I created this graphic so it is both an abstract of the Murrah building and also the phoenix rising from the ashes of the Murrah building. It's created from the colors and symbols of the Oklahoma state flag. The shield of Oklahoma guards it's heart. The face may seem simple, but I spent most of an afternoon, placing and replacing the eye, getting the head angled just right. Even in it's simple lines, I wanted to be sure to express our heartache, courage and determination. In my mind, the wind under it's wings that lift it is good works. See it the way I do now? You won't find this graphic anywhere else on the net. And if you do, they outright stole it from me."
Since my site is dedicated to honor those lost in the bombing, this first annual April 19th memorial wallpaper was the most important one of the year. I worked diligently to find an Oklahoma artist to create the graphics, but to no avail. Finally in the last week I sat down with Paint Shop Pro and knowing that I couldn't draw a straight line or even color within the lines, I prayed for more creativity than I had any right to. It's amazing what a person with little artistic talent can do with prayer, faith, an icon of the Oklahoma State flag and Paint Shop Pro. I don't think I create all of these. I think the best ones are just pure gifts from God.
Dear reader, I respect your beliefs whether they are like mine or not. I hope you know if you'd rather say it was a gift from fate or the cosmos or the great is, whatever, it's fine with me. Again, these are my personal beliefs and much as I respect yours I still feel mine clear down to my bones.
Another one of my beliefs is that remembering the tragedy is not enough for me. I must work to bring more peace, harmony, joy and health to our world so I can say, "well I did everything I could to keep it from happening again."
If we all did a little more of that.... it might not be so soon next time.

can never fully shrink to its original dimensions."
