As many of you already know, this site is dedicated to honor the lives lost in the bombing of the Murrah building in Oklahoma City, April 19th, 1995 at 9:02 a.m. It changed many of our lives forever. I'm an Okie and I got mad. timmy mcveigh had robbed us of innocent Americans to make a political statement. Then we set a terrible precedent. No where in history had someone first murdered the hostages, and then asked for a ransom and then actually received it. He killed 168 people so we'd look at Waco again. Our news media didn't walk, they ran to meet his request. It made me almost as mad as the murders. There ought to be some kind of law against meeting ransom requests after you know the hostages are already dead. And yet, I'm no one to point a finger at the news media, because I watched again too. And this is what I saw: three groups of people, all armed to the teeth with weapons, and all of them with anger, anxiety, depression and frustration alarm clocks ringing inside their heads at top volume, and I said again what I said the first time I saw it.... this is an equation for bloodshed as old as time.
emotional alarm clocks
so loud people can hear
almost nothing else
+ weapons

= bloodshed always
and often deathI've sat here a long time this morning wondering what the folks we lost would have me say to you today if they could. Of course I can't know but I believe they would ask you to say another prayer for Kosovo. And I believe that they'd want me to mention again that there is an alternative to suffering or controlling negative emotions like anger, anxiety and depression. They were never designed to be suffered and more than controlled they are designed to be utilized. Yes, they can feel like hell when you only suffer them and they feel like a pressure-cooker when you only control them; and believe it or not, they feel like the gifts from God that they are when you learn to use them the way they were designed to be used.
In all of the people at Waco that terrible day, I'll bet not one of them had ever even heard of utilizing their negative emotions.
Of the over thirty thousand people who committed murder in America last year, how many do you think had ever heard of using anger wisely instead of suffering it or controlling it? Nothing like anger in a pressure cooker for explosive results.
Of the over twenty thousand people who committed suicide in America last year, how many do you think had ever heard of using their depression wisely instead of suffering it or just controlling it?
Since nothing in our world contributes to murder, suicides, domestic violence and even the break up of families like people suffering their emotional alarm clocks, I'm convinced that nothing in our world can more efficiently reduce those things than people learning how to use those emotional states the way they were designed to be used.
To honor the lives of 168 former full time and part time Okies I have to bring it up on occasion. I believe they would still be here today if the people in Waco and timmy had known how to utilize their negative emotions. You've been in a math class, you know it's true. When you change the equation, you get different results.
Here's a pretty for you with the utilization instructions "in a nutshell" so to speak, to print and put up on your fridge. While you're at it print several more and share with friends if you like. The best way to print it out is to save it to your hard drive and then print it out from MS Paint, Paint Shop Pro or a similar program. That way it's easy to fit it to the page.

About the photos used: I took this big picture of the survivors tree. The site is under construction hence the small fence around the tree itself. I've never known why they don't tear down The Journal Record building behind it but I heard they are going to before long. I also took the pictures of the teddy bear on the fence and the Journal Record Building in the composite wallpaper. My dear friend, Bill O'Rourke of Celtic Graphics took the pictures of the survivors tree and the statue "Jesus Wept." The background of that picture is where the Murrah building once stood. All of them were taken early in March of this year and if you look closely at the survivors tree, you can see strong plump buds and new leaves dotting all of its branches.
