Some wallpapers are mostly for pretty and others are mostly for making a point. This one makes a point. Colleen Ashley was the photographer on assignment for this one and God bless her, she had thousands of breathtaking photos and I said, "None of those will do. Gimmie a plain billboard, a sign, something I can write on." No greater friendship hath a photographer to give than to go find something plain when her talent is finding extraordinary beauty. In fairness, visit her gallery today. Then you'll see what I mean. Happy Birthday Garth Brook, 640x480 and 800x600

All last week Martin Luther King's words "I have a dream" kept ringing inside my head. He was a man with a dream and he took reasonable and relevant action to make that dream come true. Things are no where near perfect yet, but they sure are worlds better than they were. That's the power of taking consistent and constructive action towards making a dream come true.

I have a dream. My dream is to put up billboards just outside of Yukon and Collinsville, Oklahoma; and Goodlettsville, Tennessee that say the same thing as the one above: A gift for Garth and our world... Garth, when you turn "The Power of Kindness" into a hit song, you'll prevent more suicides than you've even dared pray for. Happy Birthday, Garth Brooks! Trouble is, I'm good at everything except making money. And billboards cost money. But that's okay, over seven thousand people a day see this page. That's why I've planted my billboard here. Happy Birthday Garth Brooks, 640x480 and 800x600

I have a dream.... and Martin Luther King taught me by example that you have to take action. Dreaming by itself doesn't do any good. So here I am, sticking my neck out, ready for all the naysayers that will tell me three million people want Garth Brooks to make a hit out of their song, join the crowd....

I have a dream.... and it isn't getting Garth to turn my song into a hit. I can't write songs. That's his job. I write suicide preventatives that work. That's my job.

I have a dream.... and some will say, "What on earth does KINDNESS have to do with suicide prevention???" And my response is... more than most folks realize. Suicidal depression is just another way of saying "teetering between the pain of life or the pain of death." Psychology tends to treat that by focusing on the pain of life and the more you focus on it, the bigger it seems to get.

Years ago, I suffered from suicidal depression and I'm here to tell you that from the perspective of the guinea pig.... "The Power of Kindness" is FAR more effective than counseling or medication if one must use only one. Either way, with or without medication and counseling, it can be absolutely healing.

Why is it so effective? Because it changes the question from the pain of life or the pain of death.... to the pleasure of life or the pain of death. When the question is changed, they have no desire to commit suicide..... because the human brain is a wonderful computer. Given a clear choice between pleasure and pain..... the human brain chooses pleasure.

But that's not the most beautiful thing about it.... what's most beautiful about it, is that once it's explained to people, anyone can administer it. Not just ministers, psychologists, psychiatrists and doctors.... virtually ANYONE can administer it. You can. I can. Even an eleven year old kid can administer it.

Daily doses often become a lifeline as thick as a New York City underground telephone cable.

The most effective way to put this vitally important information in the hands of the most people, the fastest, is to get Garth Brooks to turn it into a hit song. When he does that, you'll see the suicide numbers drop. They won't disappear. No one can eliminate suicide.... but it will make a heavenly healing difference. I promise a noticable drop in suicide statistics.

I have a dream.... and in this dream, everyone of us is within six degrees of Garth Brooks and that means that someone reading this page can and will share it with him. And that day, my dream will come true. Because when Garth reads this page and "The Power of Kindness" he'll know I'm right and he's already proven that when it comes to helping our world, he's a man of action. So even if you don't know Garth personally, share this page with someone who might or who might know someone who might. Please help spread the word. Together we can prevent a lot of suicides and thereby increase happiness in our world.

And to answer the question, "Why does it have to be Garth?" It doesn't have to be Garth. But considering everything I do to increase happiness and decrease misery in my world is dedicated to honor the lives we lost in the Oklahoma Bombing and considering Garth is an Okie and already has a habit of writing songs that benefit his world.... well it just makes sense. The message is too important to send by anyone else if there's any chance at all we can get Garth to. That's why.
